The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup-Ladies 2007, one of the most important events in the world’s ski calendar, took place last weekend in Sierra Nevada, Europe’s most southernmost ski resort outside the Andalusian city of Granada. The big winners of the weekend were the two Austrian entrants, Marlies Schild in the slalom event and Michaela Kirchgasser in giant slalom. More than 500 people participated in the organization for these races, including 80 volunteers. Snow conditions were ideal on the Fuente del Tesoro and Neveros pistes where the races were staged. The weekend’s activities included performances by singers, Julio Iglesias, Jr. and Natalia.

Normally the Galatino Apartments in Sierra Nevada (Granada) are a peaceful refuge, a place to relax in an atmosphere of comfort and good taste. But last weekend they were a labyrinth of ambitions and thinly-veiled passions, since four of the national teams competing in the event, were lodging here.
The teams who enjoyed the hospitality of Galatino Apartments, selected by the organizing committee to lodge them, are the Spanish, the French, the Polish and the Italians, all with their respective women skiers, trainers, masseurs, etc.

“The World Cup-Ladies 2007 races, represent for us both a satisfaction and an opportunity,” affirms Encarna Gallegos, director of the Galatino Apartments. “It’s been eight years since we last hosted a World Cup event in Sierra Nevada, and now we have the opportunity to highlight our mountain, our snow, our installations and our hospitality.”
The installations and hospitality of the Galatino Apartments are certainly special. The 25 units are spacious (55-90 square meters) and luminous, and offer an aesthetic experience, features and services unknown until now in this resort. All of them are equipped with thermostatic showers or hydromassage tubs, and complete kitchen and dining room equipment. And all are centrally heated with instant hot water and quality mattresses, bedding and towels, as well as an indoor parking place and ski locker.

Set in a privileged place on the top side of the resort, near Sierra Nevada’s Sports High Performance Center and the Virgen de las Nieves chair lift (six places, 3,200 skiers/hour), the Galatino Apartments offer their guests the most convenient access to the ski station. Thanks to a new traffic plan within the resort, the Galatino clients are not only the first to arrive at their apartments, but with first preference in exiting the resort when it’s time to leave.
